Schubert's Schöne Müllerin is one of the classic song cycles of European music. For more than two centuries, the story of the amorous travelling companion who experiences deep disappointment has been retold, sung and performed time and again. For the 2026 Festival, Matthias Goerne, one of today's most prominent lieder singers, will perform Schubert's Müllerin Lieder, accompanied on the piano by Markus Hinterhäuser.
