Festtagekonzert Staatskapelle Berlin
It is no coincidence that Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 is one of the highlights of symphonic composition - it is a monumental work that is unrivalled in terms of its artistry and impact. As so often, however, Bruckner, who had achieved his breakthrough with his No. 7, literally struggled with the work, as evidenced by several versions and reworkings. In its final form from 1890, the 8th Symphony leads us into the centre of Bruckner's world, with its strict architecture and powerful sound, but also with fantastic magic and fragile moments.
