Anniversary concert Orchesterakademie
Two decades have passed since the Orchesterakademie was founded at the Staatskapelle Berlin. Daniel Barenboim himself had the idea of inviting young talented musicians to train alongside the professional ensemble, in order to give them insight into the day-to-day workings of a top-class orchestra and to learn on the job. The Orchesterakademie has turned out to be a success story: many of the scholarship-holders now play in some of the top German and international orchestras, including the Staatskapelle itself. To mark its establishment 20 years ago, the anniversary concert will bring together current as well as former members who will perform a broad range of chamber music, with strings, wind instruments and percussion and an abundance of timbres – reflecting the diversity and quality that has distinguished the Orchesterakademie since 1997.
