Festtage 2025

from 11th to 21st april

Bellini is “one of my favorites,” Richard Wagner once said, “for his music is very emotional and closely intertwined with the words.” With Bellini’s Norma, for the Festtage 2025 next April the most famous opera by this bel canto composer, already admired by his contemporaries, will be performed at the Staatsoper in a new production, alongside Wagner’s Parsifal, one of the most unusual works in opera history. The Festtage concert will be inspired by Pierre Boulez, who was born 100 years ago and was closely associated with the institution and its orchestra as an honorary conductor for the Staatskapelle Berlin. Music will be performed by composers for whom Boulez felt a strong affinity: Alban Berg and Gustav Mahler, as well as his own Notations with its opulent orchestration, which the Staatskapelle has performed several times, become ever more familiar with the piece.
