It is important to us that you always know when we store which data and how we use it (transparency principle). In the following, we would like to inform you about which data is collected, processed and used when you visit the Staatsoper Unter den Linden website and/or use the services we offer.

The responsible body within the meaning of the European General Data Protection Regulation, the Federal Data Protection Act and the Berlin Data Protection Act is the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Unter den Linden 7, 10117 Berlin.

The data protection officer of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden can be contacted by e-mail at datenschutz@oper-in-berlin.de or by telephone on 030 - 246 477 109.

1 What is personal data (Article 4 EU GDPR)?

Personal data is individual information about natural persons that allows conclusions to be drawn about their personal, economic or factual circumstances. This also includes address data, for example. It does not include information that is not directly associated with your identity.

2 What personal data is stored?

In principle, it is not necessary for you to provide personal data (e.g. name, address, e-mail address, telephone number) in order to use the staatsoper-berlin.de and staatskapelle-berlin.de websites. However, the provider of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden websites automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are Browser type and browser version, operating system used, referrer URL, IP address of the accessing computer, time of the server request. This data cannot be assigned to specific persons. This data is not merged with other data sources. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of unlawful use.

Further personal data is only collected if you make use of the services offered on our website (e.g. subscription to newsletters including press releases, bulletin board, comment function in the blog) via the respective forms or if you wish to order tickets or items from the opera store, for example. In this case, we require information such as your name, your address, including your e-mail address and, if applicable, your telephone number and bank and/or credit card details. All bank and/or credit card details will be deleted after transmission to the respective payment service providers. Bank details provided as part of a SEPA mandate are stored in your customer account.
In the case of services for which the provision of personal data is required, you will be explicitly informed of the required data.
We process the names and contact details of business partners and, where applicable, the institutions for which you work.
Anonymous ticket purchases or purchases of items from the opera store are possible without providing personal data at the box office and evening box office or in the opera store in the Staatsoper Unter den Linden during the respective opening hours. You can also obtain our season preview and monthly performance schedules as well as special publications directly on site without providing personal data.

3. What is the purpose of the collection and processing of personal data and its legal basis?

Staatsoper Unter den Linden uses the data provided by you to fulfill and process the contract for the purchase of tickets and the order of items in the opera store within the meaning of Article 6 (1b) EU GDPR. In connection with the purchase of tickets, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden uses the data to inform you, among other things, about the booked performance, any changes to the program or how to get there. In addition, Staatsoper Unter den Linden uses the data you provide to process publication orders, newsletters and press releases as well as to prevent misuse or verification for the use of the bulletin board and the comment function in the blog as well as for special logins in the context of ticket purchases in accordance with Article 6 (1a) EU GDPR. If the Staatsoper Unter den Linden has received your personal data in connection with the purchase of an admission ticket or for ordering publications, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden may also use this data for direct advertising within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for offers of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

If data is collected beyond the aforementioned purposes, this is done in accordance with Article 6 (1a) GDPR to improve our services for you (e.g. correct form of address). Data of business partners are stored and processed for the initiation and processing of business transactions in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) EU GDPR.

Your data will be treated as strictly confidential by Staatsoper Unter den Linden and used exclusively in connection with the purposes stated here for which you have provided the data. The personal data you provide will only be processed and used for other purposes, such as marketing measures, if you have consented to this or if processing and use is permitted by law even without consent.

4 How is personal data transmitted?

The Staatsoper Unter den Linden uses a secure online transmission method, the so-called “Secure Socket Layer” (SSL) transmission, to process your personal data. All information transmitted using this method is encrypted at a high level (at least 128 bits - up to 256 bits for common browsers) before it is sent to us. This ensures as far as possible that no unauthorized person can use your data.

5 How long will my personal data be stored?

The personal data collected for the processing of ticket sales, article orders, publication and newsletter orders are generally stored in a customer account of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden for 10 years after the last performance date or the last purchase of articles from the opera store, the last publication or newsletter dispatch. In the event of your revocation or request for deletion, a note will be made in your customer account and the personal data will be blocked for further use or deleted immediately, provided that this does not conflict with any retention obligations under tax and commercial law (§§ 147 AO, 257 HGB) or you have expressly consented to the further use of this data. Data collected for marketing measures is generally stored for 3 years after completion of the marketing measure. Data from business partners is generally stored until revoked.

The advertisements placed on our “bulletin board” communication platform and the associated contact data will be deleted after the relevant event date has expired. The personal data collected when using the comment function will only be deleted after the comment has been deleted.

6 Who receives my data?

The Staatsoper Unter den Linden passes on your personal data to processors insofar as this is necessary for the execution of the purchase contract for tickets and opera shop articles or publication and newsletter orders as well as the use of the bulletin board and the comment function. In particular, your data will be passed on to providers of ticket sales, marketing tools, software solutions, IT services, postal services and other providers of similar services. Your payment data (credit card data or IBAN) will be transmitted to card and sales service providers in encrypted form. These service providers are partners of Staatsoper Unter den Linden for the processing of payment transactions when purchasing tickets or ordering items from the opera store. The service providers work on our behalf and on the legal basis of Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Payment data is transmitted in a secure and encrypted form as described in section 4.

The processors only use the personal data in the course of the order placed. Neither we nor the processors will use your data for any other purpose.

7. Right to information, correction and deletion of personal data

In accordance with Article 15 EU GDPR, you have the right to free information about which of your personal data we have stored. The right of access includes the following information

  • Purpose of the processing
  • Categories of personal data that are processed

  • Existence of a right to rectification and erasure of personal data or to restriction of processing or right to object to such processing
  • Existence of a right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
  • Source of the personal data if the personal data was not collected directly

Cookie Policy

The following provisions apply to cookies and tools for usage analysis.

1. What are cookies?
The Staatsoper Unter den Linden website uses cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your device. Some of the cookies used by the Staatsoper Unter den Linden are deleted after the end of the browser session, i.e., after you close your browser (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your computer and enable the Staatsoper Unter den Linden to recognize your browser the next time you visit (persistent cookies).

You can set your browser to inform you when cookies are set and to decide whether to accept them individually, or to exclude cookies in certain cases or in general. If you do not accept cookies, the functionality of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden website may be limited.

2. Is my user behavior on the website analyzed?
The Staatsoper Unter den Linden collects usage data for statistical purposes, to optimize the websites and make them even more attractive, as well as for online marketing purposes.

Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies," which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide the website operator with other services relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. Further information on terms of use and data protection can be found at http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html or at http://www.google.com/intl/de/analytics/privacyoverview.html. In light of the public debate surrounding the storage and processing of full IP addresses for analysis purposes, we would like to point out that Google Analytics has been extended on this website with the code "anonymizeIp" to ensure the anonymized collection of IP addresses (so-called IP masking). This prevents direct personal identification. IP addresses are anonymized or masked as soon as they arrive in the Google Analytics data collection network and before the data is stored or processed.

Google Conversion Tracking
This website uses the online advertising program "Google AdWords" and, as part of it, conversion tracking to measure which websites the Staatsoper Unter den Linden's advertisements perform best on. The conversion tracking cookie is set when a user clicks on an ad placed by Google or its partners. The cookies set subsequently expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. Using this cookie, we and Google can recognize which ad brought you to our website. Each visitor who came to our site via Google AdWords receives a different cookie. The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to determine which visitors triggered a specific action on our website via ads. We learn the total number of users who clicked on our ads and which clicks led to an action. We do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify a user. Users who do not wish to participate in tracking can easily delete the Google Conversion Tracking cookie or deactivate it entirely via their internet browser under user settings. These users will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics. Learn more about Google's privacy policy (http://www.google.de/privacypolicy.html).

Google Remarketing
This website also uses Google's interest-based advertising program, known as Google Remarketing. Third-party vendors, including Google, place ads on websites across the internet using stored cookies based on a user's previous visits to this website. You can also deactivate Google's use of cookies for these purposes by visiting the Google advertising opt-out page (http://www.google.com/privacy_ads.html). Alternatively, users can deactivate the use of third-party cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page (http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp).
By using Interhyp.de, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes described above. Please note that Google has its own privacy policies, which are independent of those of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. We assume no responsibility or liability for these policies and practices. Please inform yourself about Google's privacy policy before using our website (http://www.google.de/intl/de/privacy.html).
