American Friends
We are pleased to announce the revival of the American Friends of the Berlin Staatsoper (»AFBS«), originally founded in 1994 to promote cross-Atlantic cultural ties between the Berlin Staatsoper, the Staatskapelle Berlin and its many admirers and sponsors in the USA. AFBS works closely with the Freunde und Förderer (Friends and Supporters) of the Berlin Staatsoper.
Since its founding, AFBS has sponsored song recitals, concerts and lectures of the Berlin Staatsoper across the United States. Its members and patrons have traveled to Berlin for operas, concerts and lectures while also visiting Berlin’s fabulous museums and wondrous historical sites.
The American Friends of the Berlin Staatsoper receive each year’s program and their ticket requests are handled with priority and preference. They receive invitations to distinctive events in Berlin especially during the yearly music festival, the »FESTTAGE«. Special performances and fundraising events are held in New York with Staatsoper and Staatskapelle artists.
