The first document making reference to the Kurbrandenburgische Hofkapelle, from which the present Staatskapelle Berlin developed, dates back to the year 1570. In 2014 it will be 444 years since this first mention of the orchestra - a welcome opportunity to highlight the varied history of this traditional orchestra with a series of ten chamber concerts in Rotes Rathaus. They will comprise music from several centuries, past and present, with a wide variety of casts and sounds, by well-known and lesser-known composers. And there will be a special highlight: a concert of the Orchesterakademie, the highly qualified and talented young artists in training.
